Warren and Pam Logan
Practice
members of the Strauss Chiropractic Center since May 1972 and March
1976
This month in our series of extraordinary practice members it gives
us great pleasure to introduce you to Warren and Pam Logan. Their
story begins with Warren as an 18-yr-old young man just about to graduate
from high school when he injures his back playing basketball. He was
in excruciating pain and as he recalls “walking sideways.”
So his Aunt, Elizabeth Pinkerton, who had been seeing Dr. Joe for
a few years, recommended that Warren try chiropractic. He promptly
brought himself in for his first spinal adjustment and has continued
under regular care pretty much ever since. Since that time he has
been joined by his wife, Pam and two sons, Jonathan and Joshua, all
of whom have come regularly to ensure their spines are in good alignment.
Pam started at the Strauss Chiropractic Center a few years later
before she and Warren were married. In fact she was tickled to recall
coming to the office the night she got her engagement ring. They also
noted that they were celebrating their 27th anniversary the day they
were interviewed. (How’s that for dedicated practice members!?!)
They continued to come until 1981 when a job change took them out
of the area. However, they followed Dr. Joe’s recommendation
and started seeing a chiropractor that Dr. Joe knew and referred them
to near where they lived in Sharon, PA. By the time they moved back
about 5 years later they had had 2 sons, both of whom then started
under care at the Strauss Chiropractic Center, Jonathon when he was
4 years old and Joshua when he was 2. When asked why they started
the boys (both of whom still come today) they say it just made sense.
Pam said Jon was always falling out of trees and off of bikes. Yet
if any parent watched their children for just a day they would undoubtedly
see them doing countless numbers of things that could stress their
spine to the degree that it might subluxate.
When asked what struck them most about the office over the years
Warren was quick to express his gratitude to Dr. Joe for the unusual
fee system. Together Warren and Pam described Dr. Joe as a man of
few words but of great virtue. Warren remembers Dr. Joe’s daughters
when they were just little girls (Tracy is now married with 4 children
of her own and Tami, a talented flutist, recently joined the Army
band). Warren also recalls the time a few years ago when Joe invited
him to the house for Thanksgiving dinner and the time Joe saw Jonathon
late on a Saturday night when he was hurt. When you come regularly
week after week, month after month, year after year, you’re
more than practice member—you’re family.
In closing, Warren spoke eloquently. “We need to give consideration
to alternative options versus what the mainstream tells us we have
to do. Leave yourself open to think for yourself instead of what somebody
on a TV commercial tells you. Don’t allow yourself to be channeled
by media thought or mainstream thought. Allow yourself to think about
and observe other options. I think that’s where chiropractic
gets lost because people don’t always think about chiropractic
because they’re mainstreamed to think medication and surgery,
instead of looking at the whole aspect of the body. Your body is able
to fix itself from within if you let it. If you treat your body right—put
the right things into it and keep your spine aligned—it’s
going to take care of you.”
Thanks Warren and Pam for your wonderful example, for sharing your
wisdom, and for your many referrals over the years. You are family,
we love you. May you celebrate many more Happy Anniversaries at the
Strauss Chiropractic Center.
