Mike Reynolds
Practice Member of the Strauss Chiropractic Center
since May 4, 1970
This month, in our ongoing effort to recognize people who have been
practice members of the Strauss Chiropractic Center for extraordinary
lengths of time, we are pleased to present Mr. Mike Reynolds. Mike
started at the Strauss Chiropractic Center over 33 years ago (May
4, 1970) when he injured himself at work and a friend brought him
to see Dr. Joe. He admits that his understanding of chiropractic then
was not what it is now and that he continued to come mostly because
of Dr. Joes personality. I probably didnt understand
the whole idea about how subluxation affects your whole body until
maybe 10 years ago. I just was stuck on the connection with my back.
Now I realize that adjustments benefit your whole body even when you
are not hurt. They keep your body working as well as it can.
(This tells me there is hope for many of you still who do not profit
from chiropractic as you should because you only come when you hurt.)
He also completely understands that chiropractic is not a panacea,
as over the years he has had to undergo quadruple bypass and has developed
Parkinsons. Still he believes he would have been much worse
if not for his regular care.
Mike goes to a lot of doctors so he really appreciates that he doesnt
have to wait at the Strauss Chiropractic Center, he doesnt need
an appointment and if hes driving by he can just stop in, any
day of the week and pretty much any time of the day. He loves that
there is more than one chiropractor here too. He explains, Look,
Im a big man so I like a lot of force, but children obviously
need just a little force. So its great that people of all sizes
and ages can come here and get good, quality care. He said he
even likes to switch and see different chiropractors depending on
how he feels. And theres nothing wrong with that. Mike, a retired
printer, says, Sometimes its good to get another pair
of eyes on you.
When asked why he continues to come after all these years he said
Chiropractic gives me a sense of well-being, that Im doing
some thing good for myself. He admits hes not so good
at watching his diet, getting the proper amount of rest, or exercising
regularly so having his spine checked is one thing that he does do
that is good for him. Mike does lots of things that have the potential
to create subluxation in his spine like bowling, golfing, lifting
heavy cartons of paper as a printer for many years, and playing with
his grandchildren. He added that while he was still working he also
had the emotional stress of pro-viding for his family and the chemical
stress of breathing toxins from the ink and solvents and harsh chemical
involved in the printing process both of which could also cause subluxations.
When asked what has changed over the last 30+ years he noted that
more has stayed the same than changed although he thinks Dr. Joes
hair may be getting a little lighter. When I pointed out to him that
hes been under chiropractic care for nearly half his life, he
just couldnt ex-press his gratitude for Dr. Joes extraordinary
reliability as well as for the fee system. Its just unbelievable.
Care should not be based on ability to pay and while it hasnt
made a difference in my ability to get care, I just admire and appreciate
it very much. People really like it. Even with insurance, families
with 2 or 3 children often cant afford the co-pay. Its
just wonderful. It encourages regular care for every member
of the family, which is what this office is all about. Thank you,
Mike, for sharing your thoughts and for your dedication and commitment
to chiropractic over all these many years.
